Reply to Baby is 10 weeks old, don't think I'm coping

My baby is 10 weeks old and I'm not coping very well. I'm anxious all the time and can't relax. I question every little decision that I have to make for him. I've been trying to get him into a daily routine to see if that helps but I can't seem to get him into it. I end up feeling like I've failed and that I'm a bad mother. Is this PND. Most days I don't want to leave the house as I feel guilty that I'm not at home helping him get into a routine'

Joanne it is hard being a first time Mum, been there wore the t shirt. The one word I hated was ROUTINE because no matter how I tried it didnt work for me and made me feel more useless. You are not a failure, its just all new to you and will take time, you must try to relax, get out for a walk every day, it will do both of ye good. Have you any one to support you, do your family live close by? You dont have to do it all on your own, you are not a failure, you are not a bad Mum, we always knock ourselves. Try to enjoy your small baby it is such a special time, take one day at a time and try to change the messaged in your head, you are a good Mum you are doing very well. There is no such thing as the perfect Mum we all have teething problems but it gets easier. Look at the helpfull suggestions here on the site and dont be affraid to ring PND 021 4922083 where you can talk to somone that understands. Have you spoken to your GP or your Public Health Nurse?

First time mom too and nightmare of first year and the isolation that goes with it. However there is normal anxiety and then extreme anxiety that actually requires treatment of it is holding you back from day to day activities , it can increase known as post partum anxiety after you have had baby. Speak to a GP or phn . Routine, everyone has there own, just follow babas lead, try to get out of house even in morning to the shop, it will decrease that feeling of being trapped and just make you feel better that yes I planned something and got it done. Keep your day plan simple, but routines change so quick even mams with othe kids will tell you that , just a plan , flexible to suit you too.

P.s. Get dressed as early as you can in morning, you will feel a lot more confident for it. I used to be in pjs all day and just felt more tired and confused! Xx
